General Game Rules

As always, the referee’s decision is final. Almost all of our refs are kids who came through (or are still in) the Perry Soccer program. Please treat them with respect and encourage the kids to do the same. After the game the kids should be encouraged to shake hands (fist bump) the refs. They will make mistakes, just like we will make mistakes in coaching.

Parents MUST sit on the opposite side of the field from player benches.

General Rules for U6:

  1. 4 vs. 4
  2. No Goalie
  3. Coaches are permitted to be on the field and coaches will ref these games. Try to keep play continuous, so balls that go out of bounds should be thrown back in by the coach.
  4. No goal kicks or corner kicks (see #3)
  5. 25-30 minute practice, followed by 25 minute game. No half time.
  6. No heading. Incidental heading will not be an infraction. Intention heading will be treated like a hand ball, i.e. Free kick to the other team.
  7. Handball will result in a Free Kick at the spot of the violation. No Penalty Kicks.
  8. After a goal, reset the game at midfield.

General Rules for U8:

  1. 5 vs. 5
  2. No Goalie (do not allow a kid to sit in front of the goal either)
  3. Coaches are NOT permitted to be on the field.
  4. Refs will be assigned to your game.
  5. Kids will take throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kicks.
  6. During a goal kick, the non-kicking team must move behind mid-field.
  7. Two 25 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime.
  8. No heading. Incidental heading will not be an infraction. Intention heading will be treated like a hand ball, i.e. indirect Free kick to the other team.
  9. Handball will result in a Free Kick at the spot of the violation. No Penalty Kicks.

General Rules for U11:

  1. 7 vs. 7, including a goalie
  2. Refs will be assigned to your game.
  3. Kids will take throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kicks.
  4. During a goal kick, the non-kicking team must move behind midfield (on the turf) or behind the “build out line” (Meredith). This will be enforced by the referees.
  5. Two 25 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime.
  6. No heading. Incidental heading will not be an infraction. Intention heading will be treated like a hand ball, i.e. indirect Free kick to the other team.
  7. Handball will result in a Free Kick at the spot of the violation. Penalty Kicks will be awarded if the infraction occurs inside of the penalty box.
